Can you define pulsating tinnitus (pulsatile tinnitus)? Most people have conflicting answers when asked this question. The majority of people cannot tell you the common causes of pulsating tinnitus.

Another cause of is hypothyroidism. This is when a person's heartbeat accelerates and causes a pulsating noise. Other common conditions that are associated with tinnitus are stress and hypertension, exhaustion, little to no exercise, prescription medication, tumors in the middle ear, and diabetes.
Sinus issues, such as sinusitis, are a huge villain when it comes to tinnitus causes. It's the medication, not the sinus disorder, which causes tinnitus. Antibiotics often create a thick mucus in the inner ear. This mucous will usually disperse via the Eustachian tube, but because it is so thick, it cannot go anywhere. Pulsating tinnitus is the result.
An Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist will be able to diagnose properly the cause of your tinnitus. He or she will use a stethoscope or Ausculscope to listen to the same pulsating sound in your ear that you are experiencing.
